With more than 20 years of consulting experience, Rob Surdel is a Founder and Managing Director of Alpine Rewards. Rob advises compensation committees and management teams across a broad range of rewards and people issues, including executive and board of directors’ compensation, short-term incentive design, long-term incentive strategy, IPO planning, transaction support and business transformation.
Based out of Boston, Rob works across organizational life cycles, from start-up to mature, private to public, growth to decline, acquisition to exit— with deep expertise in the Life Sciences industry.
Prior to Alpine, Rob led Aon’s North America Rewards Advisory business, overseeing all rewards advisory lines, including the Radford consulting business.
Rob is passionate about building a company that positively impacts the consulting experience for both clients and colleagues, and links to a higher purpose. “By giving people the right tools, focus and context, we can bring a level of industry-focused, strategic advice that is second to none.”
Rob has been published in NACD, Directors & Boards magazine; World at Work magazine; BioSpace, The Boston Globe and many thought leadership pieces with HR/Rewards affinity groups. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Environmental Studies from Bowdoin College, and a Master of Business Administration from the Franklin W. Olin Graduate School of Business at Babson College.
Charlie Franklin is the Co-founder & CEO of Compa, a VC-backed startup with the mission to make compensation fair and competitive for everyone. Compa is compensation intelligence software for enterprise total rewards teams navigating era of pay transparency.
Charlie has over a decade HR experience, mostly focused in compensation. He started his career at Mercer, a leading global HR consulting firm, where he advised on compensation strategy for Fortune 500 companies in technology, financial services, life sciences, and energy. He subsequently led executive compensation and people strategy at Juniper Networks, and most recently led HR M&A and global mobility at Workday prior to founding Compa.
Charlie resides in Newport Beach, California, where he enjoys spending time with his wife and daughters hiking, gardening, and bicycling by the ocean.
